Wine Reviews
Trinchero

Trinchero 2007 Meritage

This wine is a blend of choice lots from several of this winemakers prime estate vineyards. The unique thing about this wine is that the vineyards chosen will differ from year to year. The 2007 was a combination of Cabernet from their Cloud’s Nest and Haystack Vineyards. Merlot from the Vista Montone Vineyard. Petit Verdot and Cabertnet Franc from their Central Park West Vineyard. Mario Monticelli says, “This is my favorite wine to make because, like having all the crayons in the box, it lets me paint the prettiest picture. Having an incredible arsenal of vineyards at my disposal enables me to make a wine with layers and layers of aromas and flavors. Cabernet is the backbone, Merlot contributes to the mid-palate and aromatics. Petit Verdot adds color and floral aromatics, and Cabernet Franc elongates the finish.”

Chateau St. Jean - 2007 Pinot Noir

Chateau St. Jean - 2007 Pinot Noir

Youthful and inviting, this Pinot Noir displays lovely aromas of raspberry, cherry and plum as well as hints of rose and leather. The palate offers jammy fruit flavors and round tannins that give a creamy texture and a long fruit-driven finish.

Critical Acclaim: “Translucent cherry red hue. Bright aromas of cherry juice, black fruit and brown sugar. Spicy black pepper, clove and continued cherry notes framed by well-integrated acidity. Charming oak notes, red berry and mocha all wrapped up in a buttery-textured finish.” 92 Points – The Wine News

“A delicate, silky and sensual Pinot Noir that shows real value. Firmed and toned by racy acidity, it shows polished flaovrs of raspberries, sassafras, cola and cinnamon spice.” 90 Points – Wine Enthusiast.

Attems - 2008 Sauvignon

Attems - 2008 Sauvignon

This Sauvignon Blanc boasts a quite distinctive, very complex bouquet. In color it appears a straw yellow, typically with greenish highlights. Its palate exhibits crisp, tangy and full flavor. The vintage was one of very good quality. The grapes harvest was trouble-free with perfect weather conditions, which allowed the picking of each group variety at its peak ripeness.

The color is a luminous straw yellow. Tropical fruits in particular pineapple is the first to appear on the nose. The palate is delicate, elegant, and beautifully balanced with an appealing crisp acidity. The finish is a full-flavored, which fittingly crowns this outstanding wine.

This wine partners well with poultry and light meats. Is perfect for light grilled or sautéed fish. Try serving potatoes, asparagus and mild vegetables to further the wine experience.

Stags' Leap - 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

Stags' Leap - 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is synonymous with the Napa Valley in general and Stags Leap District in particular. In the Estate vineyards, we take full advantage of this ideal location, planting Cabernet vines in deep, well-drained loamy volcanic soils.

The 2006 growing season began with a rainy and cool spring, which slightly delayed bud break. Warm summer months kept harvest on track by gradually advancing fruit maturity, and the moderate temperature continued into harvest allowing the Cabernet to achieve ripeness of flavor and tannin without compromising natural acidity. Harvest progressed perfectly, and aroma, tannin, and flavor profile for this vintage is truly exceptional.

The palate has round supple tannins wrapped around layers of blackberry, espresso and black truffle. It has vivid aromas of red currant, black plum and mocha. A lengthy finish of spiced plum, dark chocolate and roasted coffee completes this classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Selva de Canonici

Dragani Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Selva de Canonici 2003

Montepulciano is a grape closely related with the Abuzzo region of Italy. The wines tend to be quite fruity and grapy and can range from rather lightly styled but still richly fruited to big, dense, spicy wines that have undergone extensive barrel ageing. While all Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is made with Montepulciano grapes not all Montepulciano wine is labelled as Montepulcinao d’Abruzzo. Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno from the Marches region, for example, are made from Montepulcinao. Furthering the confusion is Tuscany’s famed Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which is, in fact, based on Sangiovese.

This wine is made from a selection of from the historic vineyards that fall within the Caldari territory of Ortona. Processing is carried out with long maceration of the marc in traditional wine-makers. Refining takes over a year in large capacity containers. Ageing in wooden casks completes the two-year maturing cycle.
