Run, bounce, spin, climb, and tumble into Highmark
SportsWorks®, a science and sports experience unlike
any other! As you roam the gallery in our brand-new
building, filled with nearly 30 hands-on exhibits, you
will explore and discover the physics of sports, nutrition
and health, and try our exciting sports challenges.
USS Requin
Open Daily - Weather Permitting

Cost: Included with General Admission
Come aboard to learn how 80 men used their expertise,
humor and sheer ingenuity to carve out a rough and
adventurous life during Requin’s lengthy defense and
scientific missions, some of which are still classified
to this day! State-of-the-art and battle ready when she
set out just days before the end of World War II, USS
Requin holds the distinction of being the Navy’s first
Radar Picket submarine.
Go beneath the surface of submarine life with Living
History aboard USS Requin. Carnegie Science Center
has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University’s
Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) to add
high-tech interactive experiences to the historic
submarine. It’s the first-ever use of interactive
technology such as this aboard a historic ship.
The USS Requin submarine is open Sunday-Friday
from 10am-4:30pm, and Saturday from 10am-6:30pm.
Roboworld

Meet Andy, the robot greeter, and learn how ‘bots
sense, think, and act! The most comprehensive
permanent robotics exhibit in the world, roboworld
features more than 30 interactive displays featuring all
things robotic, including the first physical home for
Carnegie Mellon University’s star-studded Robot Hall
of Fame.
Robo Challenge Sleepover
Date: Select Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm-10am

We’ve upgraded the science and cranked up the fun
with our newest sleepover!
Charge your motors in our Humanoid Processing
Center, test your binary mettle with the robo-trivia
game Where in the World Is Andy Roid?, thrill your
senses to the max with a bot-tastic laser show, create
a binary being that will change the world, and much,
much more!
From where you eat to where you sleep, it’s a totally
different twist on science sleep-overs, with completely
new programming.
Sleepovers run from 6pm (check-in) until 10am the
following morning. Then, enjoy more hands-on
exploration, including Highmark SportsWorks®!
Animalopolis

Animalopolis is a roaring-good time for children ages
8 and under and for all who are young at heart. Get
up-close with an opera-singing lion, dancing bears,
and meditating sea otters, and more! Seussian-style

Volcanoes of the Deep Sea

JazzLive!
Presented by: Trust Education and Community Engagement Department JazzLive is a year-round FREE live jazz series taking place at The Cabaret at Theater Square, Backstage Bar and Katz Plaza.* Open to the public, this popular Pittsburgh Cultural Trust music series showcases some of the region’s finest jazz musicians every Tuesday from 5pm-11pm in the heart of the Cultural District.
*From September to May, all performances take place in the Backstage Bar. In the summer, live jazz moves outdoors to Katz Plaza from 5pm-7pm and in the Backstage Bar from 7pm-10pm.
