Crystal Reflections Pebble Vessel

Imagine washing your hands in a work of art, or enjoying your dinner from a unique artisan-designed piece of glass. Thanks to the Jeannette-based company JSG Oceana, you can.

JSG Oceana creates designer glass pieces including glass sinks, tableware and decorative giftware. The nature of the process in which they are created ensures that each piece is distinct.

“No two free-formed vessels are alike,” says Christina Yerep, director of marketing for JSG Oceana. In fact, spontaneous creativity often leads to new products. The designers work with the glass to discover new shapes, designs, and product lines.

The JSG Oceana line is inspired by the ocean’s waves and the peace often associated with them.

Recently introduced styles include the Alina art collection, which features pieces that can function as flower vases, serving pieces, or table centerpieces. The “Lighter Than Air” glass dinnerware line offers a lightweight alternative to the company’s traditional dinnerware, while still holding true to their superior qualities & Microwave, Oven, and Dishwasher Safe capabilities.

The designs can serve as the centerpiece of a bathroom or kitchen especially in the case of the company’s sinks.

“It’s a piece you build your bathroom around,” says Yerep.

The dinnerware and giftware are just as impressive and eye-catching. Some pieces have precious metals infused throughout. While others can be custom-engraved, adding to the personal nature of a gift.

Beyond its beauty, the glass is of the highest quality. JSG Oceana uses a “Hard Roc” Glass manufacturing process that results in a product much more durable than any other glass sink or product on the market.

The glass used to produce all of JSG Oceana’s products is known as “Hard Roc” Glass. This special formulation of glass is superior to all other types of glass by possessing qualities of being scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, and thermal-shock resistant. And the Dinnerware products are all microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe. The glass’ non-porous, hygienic surface makes it remarkably easy to clean and care for. “The quality alone makes our products worth having,” Yerep says, adding that, in addition to the products’ durability, each product’s coloration stays true to the glass, without fading over time.

The sinks are approved under standards established by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, (IAPMO). Each of JSG Oceana’s glass sinks were subjected to the same rigorous tests as porcelain and stainless steel and passed them all. Their glass sinks can withstand the abuse of everyday normal use without damage or harm, because of their superior glass qualities and durability.

JSG Oceana glass is environmentally friendly, which is another attractive feature for the line of products. It’s lead-free and recyclable qualities; make it ideal for the conscious consumer.

JSG Oceana’s innovative production process puts it a step ahead of competitors. “A lot of the things you see from us are things that only we can do,” says JSG Oceana President Kathleen Sarniak. In fact, JSG Oceana sells the only glass kitchen sink available on the market.

For nearly a century, Jeannette Specialty Glass—JSG Oceana’s parent company —has produced industrial lighting and decorative lampshades, some of which were hand-painted. As foreign competition increased, the company saw the need to expand its product line. The JSG Oceana line was introduced in 2003, bringing on more opportunities and product expansion. With their launch of decorative glass sinks, and a need for marketing and sales expertise, Kathleen Sarniak was brought on to head those efforts by the company’s owner and primary designer, Ted Sarniak.

“Kathleen brought over 20 years of retail marketing and sales experience to JSG Oceana, which can be credited for the ultimate overnight success of the decorative glass sink and tabletop line. says Yerep.

Not only do the people who buy JSG Oceana products treat themselves to beautiful works of art, they also help to support a local business. All of the pieces are produced in Jeannette, PA and JSG Oceana employs as many as 70 to 80 employees.

At one time, western Pennsylvania was a hotbed for glass production. Today, JSG Oceana is one of the few remaining glass manufacturers in the region. In fact, the company is home to one of the few remaining borosilicate furnaces left in the United States. The JSG Oceana line has proven immensely popular and is sold by more than 2,000 dealers nationwide. JSG Oceana products are also sold in Canada, Mexico, the

Middle East, and Europe. Anyone interested in purchasing JGS Oceana products can visit their website and search for a dealer near them at:
