For 13 years PerLora, founded by Perry and Lora Sigesmund, has been the champion of contemporary design and a showcase for the modern lifestyle in Pittsburgh. For 25 years, Metropolitan Home has been the champion of contemporary design and a showcase for the modern lifestyle nationally. So it seems only natural that the two are working together to debut something very special in the tri-state area.

Consumers rely on Metropolitan Home to be an approachable, real-life bible of how to “nest” in modern style. They rely on PerLora to bring them only the finest quality and most innovative products to fill their “nest.”

Through this partnership, with strong brand recognition and a clear understanding of the contemporary consumer’s mindset, Metropolitan Home and PerLora are proud to debut the Metropolitan Home Collection at PerLora on Thursday, October 11, at their South Side Pittsburgh location.

“We are so proud and honored to be the exclusive provider of the Metropolitan Home Collection in Pittsburgh,” said Perry Sigesmund. “This is such an exciting collection that culminated from one very talented individual. Benjamin is referencing furniture styles from years past and implementing them with a twist for today’s lifestyle.”

In order to instill the Metropolitan Home philosophy, the magazine enlisted the expertise of internationally renowned designer, Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz. Noriega-Ortiz has developed the Metropolitan Home Collection (found at PerLora) into distinct, eclectic lifestyle groupings, rather than traditional suites of furniture, which allows consumers to blend pieces together to create their own unique environments.

“Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz is recognized as one of the most stylish and influential of today’s interior designers,” said Sigesmund. “His work constantly appears on international ‘Best’ lists, and he has been featured in over 100 of the leading design publications throughout the world. Mr. Noriega-Ortiz focuses his talents on creating interiors that are serene and livable. This new collection makes it possible to mix the consumer’s new purchases with almost anything they have at home.”

The Metropolitan Home Collection focuses its initial product launch on three distinctive lifestyle trends that are popular in home decors throughout the world. Noriega-Ortiz has focused his talents on interiors designed to be both serene and comfortable. Using shapes and silhouettes with rich finishes, he has created furniture that is both luxurious and romantic in its aesthetic appeal.

  • The first trend is inspired by weekend getaway homes with the feel of coastal or warmer climates. It has a very relaxed and serene ambience highlighted by a soft Ceruse limed-oak finish for bedroom, cork top dining tables, and occasional tables, contrasted with dark chocolate wood-based treatments or floating on airy, clear acrylic bases.
  • The second lifestyle trend focuses on urban and metropolitan loft living, whether large and spacious or efficiently concise. The need to define different living environments for sleeping, entertaining, home offices and others within a larger space is common in many homes. Using a versatile multi-functional bed wall to define distinctly different spaces within the larger environment is an ingenious innovation, which goes a long way toward expanding the living environment for many urbanites. Using a Citrine finished anigre in a distinctive chevron veneer pattern, the décor created is both tasteful and classic in its simplicity.
  • The third trend is for luxury upscale homes or those that aspire to accent their decors with wonderfully special items in rich finishes and exotic veneers, creating a key focal point for any room. Using Macassar Ebony and Zebrawood veneers with soft supple leathers in the bedroom and living room, the look is rich and sumptuous.

Jo-Ann Pier – Retail Merchandise Editor of Metropolitan Home

The Metropolitan Home Collection at PerLora also includes a wide-ranging selection of striking fabric and leather upholstered furniture. Living rooms feature upholstery settings including a high contemporary shelter-back sofa and wing chair, slipcover sofas of various sizes, over-scaled leather sofas and lounge chairs, and an assortment of lounge chairs in innovative designs that are perfectly comfortable with all contemporary interiors. The collection features over 100 fabric and leather selections in order to create the perfect look for every home.

“The Metropolitan Home Collection offers more than 65 items in a variety of finishes that are both fresh and innovative in design,” said Lora Sigesmund. “We can provide all of your design needs, as this new collection offers style for those with traditional tastes as well as modern.”

Perry and Lora Sigesmund will be hosting a creative black-tie cocktail reception to unveil the Metropolitan Home Collection on Thursday, October 11. World-renowned Benjamin Noreiga-Ortiz will be in attendance along with Jo-Ann Pier, retail merchandise editor of Metropolitan Home Magazine.
